Earlier this month, the Memphis fire department was called to the home of Cedric Gatlin because of an injured wrist. Normally, a wrist injury wouldn't be a cause for alarm, but, in this instance, dire action was needed because Gatlin couldn't walk because of his obesity. His weight is 700 pounds and he hasn't been out of his home is over 2 years. The firemen on the scene decided that the best way to remove Gatlin, was cut a hole in the side of the house. Menstrual Cups: A Rediscovery
About once a month for the past 30 something years, I find myself wondering what man came up with those torture devices that women know as tampons and pads. I have pondered over the idea that there has to be something better, and today I found it. During my random web surfing, I discovered a not so new item called Instead Softcup. Although I immediately felt some kind of relief and elation, I couldn't help but feel slighted because I had never heard of this product. It's like having a miracle cure, but, refusing to share it. I'll never watch another commercial for feminine hygiene products quite the same again. Why aren't there any advertisements for Instead Softcup? Read more
Preparing for Fasting
This is the time of the year when we all start thinking of ways to improve ourselves. Those of us who believe that our spiritual being directly effects our physical world turn to fasting as a way to achieve that goal. The purpose of fasting is not only to cleanse the body of toxins, but, to cleanse the soul as well. However, one must prepare for such an event. In my younger years, I found out quickly that preparing myself helped to achieve the desired results, both, physically and spiritually. In actuality, if you are going to begin a one-week or more fast, the preparing starts weeks in advance. You can prepare yourself first by deciding what exactly you want to achieve. What results are you looking for? Do you want to lose weight? More information on Fasting
High Blood Pressure: Natural Home Remedies
There are a lot of natural ways to control your blood pressure. One of the most common natural remedies is, consuming raw garlic cloves or two or three garlic capsules on a daily basis. What exactly does garlic do? It reduces spasms in the small arteries, slows pulse rate and modifies heart rhythm. However, take note that garlic is a natural blood thinner and should not be taken with any other blood thinning medications, such as, Coumadin or Trental. As with this or any of these natural remedies, you will want to talk to your doctor before adding it to your diet. Read more about home remedies for high blood pressure
Spotting the Symptoms And Living with Alzheimer's Disease
The most touching movie that I have ever seen is The Notebook with James Garner and Gena Rowlands. The husband is reading his wife a story about the lives of a young couple in love and the progression of their relationship. I won't ruin ir for those who haven't seen it. I'll just say rent it or bett er yet buy it. Great movie. The reason that it sparked such emotion in me is my father developed Alzheimer's Disease in the latter part of his life. We began noticing symptoms one Christmas morning. None of us had ever heard of Alzheimer's and thought his behavior may be do to his blood pressure or some unknown illness, cause he was never sick and wasn't on any medication.
